On Sunday, December 21, my family and I had the privilege of volunteering with Baby It’s Cold Outside Charity for their annual Christmas Feast, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget.

Our day began at Sobey’s in Okotoks, where we collected the food that would become a festive holiday meal for families in our community. From there, we headed to Santa’s workshop to pick up beautifully wrapped presents before setting out to deliver both the feast and the gifts. Being part of that journey, from preparation to delivery, made the experience especially meaningful.

What truly stood out to us was the incredible level of support behind this initiative. Seeing how many individuals, groups, organizations, and companies came together to make this event possible was deeply moving. It reminded us that when our community is needed, people truly show up. That sense of generosity and togetherness warmed our hearts and made us feel genuinely festive this season.

This year alone, over 700 families signed up for the program which is an important reminder that many people need a little extra support to bring some Christmas magic into their homes. Being able to help, even in a small way, was an honour, and it’s an experience that left a lasting impression on our family. We already know this is something we hope to continue for many years to come as a family tradition.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their time, resources, and kindness, and especially to Baby It’s Cold Outside Charity for organizing such a thoughtful and impactful way to help families enjoy a warm and joyful Christmas. Your work truly makes a difference.
