Every small business is different. And in a town like Okotoks, where our businesses range from home bakers and dog groomers to mechanics, makers, and tech entrepreneurs, a one-size-fits-all solutions just don’t cut it.
That’s why, if I’m elected mayor, I’ll work to ensure our local businesses get the kind of support that’s tailored, accessible, and responsive to real-world needs.
Tailored Support for Every Industry
From chatting with business owners around town, one thing is clear: every industry faces its own unique challenges. What works for a coffee shop may not apply to a tradesperson or a creative startup.
That’s why I’ll advocate for:
- Industry-specific support through our Chamber of Commerce, so whether you’re running a salon or a store, you’re getting advice and programs that actually fit your reality.
- Clear, easy-to-follow “How to Start a Business in Okotoks” guides customized by industry, with step-by-step instructions, licensing information, and helpful local contacts. Starting a business should be exciting, not overwhelming.
- A simple online form where business owners can directly submit the challenges they’re facing. Let’s hear from the source and use that feedback to close gaps, fix red tape, and deliver real solutions faster.
I Don’t Know Your Business Better Than You Do
I’ve never run a tattoo shop, or a landscaping company, or a mobile pet grooming service. And I won’t pretend to know the day-to-day challenges you face better than you do.
But what I do know is this: you’re the expert on your business. That’s why I want to make it easier for you to share your ideas and concerns directly, so we can build practical, effective support based on your real experiences, not just assumptions.
Local government should be a partner, not a roadblock. And that starts by listening.
Why It Matters
Local businesses are more than just storefronts. They’re the heart of our community. They sponsor our kids’ sports teams, hire local talent, bring character to our streets, and give Okotoks its unique identity.
Helping them thrive isn’t just good economics, it’s smart community building.
Let’s Build a Stronger Local Economy, Together
As mayor, I won’t pretend that government has all the answers. But I will commit to listening, collaborating, and making sure that our policies support the people who are out there taking risks, creating jobs, and serving our town every day.
When small businesses succeed, Okotoks succeeds.
