A Shocking Moment for Okotoks
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to say how sorry I am to hear about the recent shooting here in Okotoks. Like many of you, I was shocked and heartbroken to learn that someone in our community was hurt and had to be taken to the hospital. This event hit close to home as it happened with the neighbourhood I lived in for almost 12 years.
My Thoughts Are With the Victim and Their Family
My thoughts are with that person and their loved ones. I can’t imagine how scary and painful this must be for them. And I know this kind of thing shakes all of us. Okotoks is a town where people look out for each other — this isn’t something we expect to see close to home.
This Isn’t About Politics
I don’t want to say too much while the police are still looking into what happened, but I do want to say this: I care about this community, and I care about the people in it. I know how important it is for everyone to feel safe — whether you’re walking down your street, working, going to school, or just living your everyday life.
This isn’t about politics or campaigns. It’s about being human, and caring when someone in your town gets hurt. I’m not writing this to get attention — I just feel it’s important to speak up and let people know they’re not alone.
Let’s Look Out for Each Other
If you’re feeling worried or upset after hearing the news, you’re not the only one. It’s okay to feel that way. Talk to your neighbours, your friends, your family. Let’s support each other — that’s what makes our town strong.
Moving Forward, Together
As someone who’s running for mayor, I promise this: I’ll always listen, and I’ll always care. Community safety matters, and if I’m lucky enough to serve this town, I’ll work hard to make sure your voice is heard and your concerns are taken seriously.
But today isn’t about politics. Today is about people.
Take Care, Okotoks
Please take care of yourselves and each other.
With care,
Colin Langenberger
